Elder Bracken's newest email!

First of all everyone... I'm very sorry my letter was so small last week. I was spending most of my time uploading pictures onto snapfish. And no one even says anything about the pictures. But that's ok I will forgive you. Yes, I will admit to all of you it was very hard when Marian did not go through with the baptism. And mom, can I just say that when I found out you put his name on the prayer roll, I was very touched. Infact a little teary eyed. I will tell you that I feel your support for me, I really do and it feels wonderful. Thank you all for your love that you show me. I honestly love hearing from each and every one of you.

So lets go on and talk about what happened to me this week. It was a very good week.

Monday - We went bowling, that was interesting, I felt very un-missionary like. Not that I was doing anything wrong, just different to be doing something I would be doing at home. I did not win, I have never been good at bowling, its a stupid sport. Right after this we went up to Speilberk and we were knighted again! This time I have pictures of me! It was way fun, I had to answer a few questions and it was hard but I am now an official super Brnak! I feel special. That was way fun. Then Elder Kreitzer and I ended up having two lessons at once so I went with Elder Betts and taught one and Elder Shumway went and taught with Elder Kreitzer. I taught Kristyna. And it was a very spiritual meeting. Kristyna is the most sassy 17 year old girl I have ever met in my life and because of her I never want to teach a 17 year old girl ever again, but I love her to death she is so funny! Not to mention we have such spiritual meetings with her. She is stubborn and she likes it when I am wrong, she's a little like me, and when we started teaching her she told me that she wouldn't end up believing. Well today we were teaching her and she basically just said "yea no, I don't believe" and I don't know why but I felt very spiritual prompted to tell her "I don't believe that, infact, I think you do believe," and I gave her this big speech about how she may not understand why, and she may not like it, but she believes. the spirit was very strong and probably the funniest part was, she didn't argue, she couldn't argue. And then at the end I said the prayer, It was interesting because I really did realize how much I love Kristyna, despite all of her little quirks. I got to use a word that I recently learned from how firm a foundation the verse goes "I kdyz budes klesat, ja pozvednu te zas," "Even when you will fall, I will lift you up again" I love that verb, Pozvednout. To lift up. In the prayer I asked God to lift her up in her struggles, and I truly felt how much God loved her, and it was really cool.

Tuesday - We had district meeting and We also had english class, that was about it. We did have a few lessons fall through and a lot of contacting. That was fun. We also taught Kristyna, we had a good lesson with her and talked with her about what she had been reading in the scriptures, It went very well, she has already finished first nephi and is half way through second nephi.

Wednesday - We had another lesson with Kristyna, we found out her mom has forbidden her to be baptized. That really sucks. We can't really do anything about it but pray and hope that her mind changes. But as for now, she is not getting baptized next saturday. Also taught this girl named Sabina who was a referral from Sara Kasanova who is the member living in st. george, who no one has tried contacting but whatever, This girl is really cool and has 100 questions about everything. hopefully we will be able to help her out. She is going to be a cool investigator. Then this night I went on an exchange with Elder shumway, Elder Shumway is way cool. I love serving around him. I've seen him everyday for almost six months. He has always been like a mentor for me, even though he is only about 2 days older than me, he is two transfers older than me and the type of missionary I would like to be. He's a sweet guy.

Thursday - With Elder Shumway, we did some cool things lots of cool contacts. We also had a dinner appointment that night with the Speldovi, a great family, they made amazing food.

Friday - had a dinner appointment with this family, the same guy who used to be a body builder, and he gave me one of the bests gifts I could ever ask for. In this mission after communism we weren't allowed to be here. And it was illegal basically to have a book of mormon. So, our church did something special. They printed off books of mormon smaller and in red so they looked like Karl Marx books, and on the cover they only put KM for Kniha Mormon, which looks exactly like a Karl Marx book. There weren't very many of these books printed. Only a small few. And they are more rare than baptisms in this country. Infact most missionaries go home without a red book of mormon. And he gave me one. I have a piece of history in my mission. I'm so excited. I took some pictures of it and posted them on snap fish. It is way cool.

Saturday - We didn't do anything, really just contacted and visited members.

Sunday - this was a cool day. We only got one investigator to chruch (Kristyna) but we got 15 inactive members to chruch. One thing I have a testimony of. I am teaching two inactive members who are a little, I guess you could say slow. But one thing I have noticed about them, is that when they come to chruch, they improve their entire countenance. One person is literally so shy that he can't form sentances, but when he comes to church, after a few weeks, he can speak just fine. Another guy is a little weird, and doesn't speak czech so well either, but when he came to chruch, he was pleasent. It was really cool. Then Elder Shumway and I went on another exchange because Elder Shumway now had to come to Prague to get his visa renewed and Elder Betts didn't want to go, So I love a good prague trip, so I went.

And that's where I am now. so yea. That's about it. Next week is transfers again. so I won't write you until wednesday so be ready for that. I love you all! keep writing me! Bye!
